3rd Week Completed

pic 3

Three weeks have flown by, and I am very happy to report

11.1 Pounds Slimmer!

My daily average loss is just over ½ pound a day  =  3.7 per week.

I wanted to chart my daily weight up’s and down’s to get a birds eye view on how my progress has gone so far.  It looks good. Trending down…. A few days there I was getting impatient waiting for what I knew would be a drop in my weight. I was sure the weight would come off but it was coming off at its own sweet time.

My cloths are definitely looser and some are down right baggie.

Now that my first three weeks are completed I can incorporate exercise into my weekly routine again.  I can’t wait to hit the gym.

Last night, me and my dog went for a long, hour and thirty minute brisk walk. It felt really good to get moving again.

My weekly goal will be to hit the gym 3 days and get cardio in 6 out of 7 days for the next two weeks.

I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Day #18 On The Plan

June 14th, 2009 – Flag Day!

My morning weight is up .2 lbs.  @ 179.6

Total of: 10.4 in 17 days on the program.

Since joining Weight Watchers in Sept of 2006 I have lost weight steadily, that is up until the last 5 ½ months.  I hit a wall.  Yesterday morning at my Weight Watchers meeting I hit one of my major goals.  Thanks to Optavia I have broken through the wall  and have lost a total of -75 pounds! Hip Hip Hooray For Me! It’s actually a relief more than a celebration because it took so long it reach.

I am happy to be back. Seeing my weight go down is very motivating and makes me want to hit 175 now more than ever. I can see it happening which up to a couple of weeks ago was just not there.

Some of you may look at a .2 up this morning and that would bum you out especially knowing you did everything right. It doesn’t bother me that way.  I just know that slow and steady is going to be the best way to lose and keep it off. The little daily up’s are not getting in the way of my long term goals.

This is working!

Day #17 On The Plan

June 13th, 2009 – My morning weight is down -.1 lbs.  @ 179.4

Total of: 10.6 pounds in 16 days on the program.

Yesterday I attended an awards banquet hosted by The Kiwanis  Club  of Tahoe. The Tahoe Sunrisers.  I wanted to stay focused and do some planning if I was going to stay on program for the day.

I planned a snack for the 2 hour car ride and put pink lemonade “the zero calories to go packet” in ice water, and sipped on it to keep me hydrated and satisfied.  By the time we got to Stanford Camp up at Fallen Leaf Lake I was more interested in checking out the camp while we still had sunlight. The scenery was stunning.

At the cocktail party I spent my time outside on the patio meeting the guest. I remembered from one of my Weight Watchers meetings that you don’t want to hang out next to the food table and I didn’t.

The dinner was a 5 course meal… by the time it was served I was in control, not starving, but I was ready for dinner.

I enjoyed:

  • 4 oz +/- Cream of Potato Soup, with fresh crushed black pepper.
  • A salad of baby green lettuce (some kind of cheese I put to the side)
  • 3 oz of grilled blacken Salmon –an estimate of the portion.
  • 1 – 1oz slice of prime rib and a dab of creamed horseradish
  • A hand full of grilled asparagus and green onions.
  • Water & a cup of French Roasted Gourmet Coffee

I passed on the potatoes, some type of pasta dish, and the desserts. For those of you, like my best friend Sonja, who live for that chocolate fix… you would have died and gone to heaven to see what the gentleman beside me was eating. OMGosh!

When the evening was all over I was happy with myself. I loved the drive up the hill and the lake was gorgeous.  I met many caring and community minded people.  I was honored and humbled to accept the donation they awarded to the Kiwanis Family House. It was a very good day!

New weight @ 179.5

Friday June 12, 2009

Down .7 for a total weight loss of -10.5 in 15 days!

New weight  @ 179.5

Good bye 180’s !  Hello… 179.5

I was a very happy camper this morning as my digital scale read “179.5” Getting out of the 180’s has taken me almost a year as I look back, and it was a struggle up and down and back up again. At one point I wondered -Is this just how it’s meant to be!?

I’ve pretty much always been heavy, even as a baby. Back then… I was in vogue being a chubby baby. After all, my mom and dad were depression kids. Having food on the table especially for my mom who was a city girl growing up in Boston with 9 kids in the house and immigrant parents (Sicily, San Pier Niceto, Italy) who barely made ends meet, it had to have been a daily struggle to survive. So they loved having a fat baby. However; all those baby fat cells are still hanging to me and it’s time I got rid of my “baby fat” once and for all…. and then some.

My new motto this week is : Onward & Downward

From what my neighbor, who is an RN, has told me (she worked at a weight loss clinic for a number of years) it takes about 2 weeks for the body to adjust to the fewer calorie. Once it does, my hunger levels will drop. Which means it’s important to schedule my TSFL meals every 2 ½ to 3 hours to keep my metabolism running through out the day.  Yesterday my hunger level was pretty much an even and steady, not hungry, so I’m thinking I may be starting this phase… which is great. It should make my program even easier to do and shed more of my “baby fat”.

PS: If I do say so… I was a pretty darn cute baby!

Two weeks completed

Two weeks completed and 9.8 pounds slimmer! I am so happy to be back to losing weight and relieved too. I was in limbo for the past 5 monthsbut not any more. This is just what I needed to pull it all back together and kick start myself.

This morning when I weighted I had a flash back to Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper the trainers and fitness experts from The Biggest Loser, telling contestants that the 2nd week was typically not a good week on the scale. All things considered I’m real good with a 2 pound loss for week.  I would have liked to see that .2 go away and make it an even 10 pounds for the 14 days… but it wasn’t coming off this morning! I did consider flossing and clipping my nails, but ah what the heck – tomorrow is another day and another pound gone.

This coming week my challenge will be an Awards Dinner tomorrow night at Fallen Leaf Lake, that’s up in So Lake Tahoe, and one of my favorite spots around. I’m receiving funds on behalf of The Kiwanis Family House.  I called today and found out its going to be buffet so that should be easy for me. I’ll eat my lean and green – no wine however.  That will be harder… I’ll be the designated driver so it will work out. River Cats Baseball on Sunday – I have that figured out, and I survived no problems again at the pizza parlor Wednesday – so that’s cool.

This week I am going to work on “cutting back” on the salt with my dinners, which is harder than giving up my glass of wine. I’m cutting back – not cutting out! I want to see if this helps with my weight loss this coming week.

Day# 14 On The Plan

Wednesday June 10th 2009 – My morning weight is down .9 lbs. @ 180.4

Total of: -9.6 after 13 days on the program

I was happy to see that .9 come off this morning.

Today I am ending my 2nd week on the program. Other than my caffeine incident the first week and some unpleasant gas… I am finding this a piece of cake. I am now in the process of determining if I want to step out there and take on a 2nd 5 weeks on the program. I am pretty sure I will. I’ll be making that decision next week.

Day #13 On The Plan

June 9th, 2009 – My morning weight is up .3 lbs.  @ 181.3

Total of: -8.7 after 12 days on the program.

Up a 2nd day in a row…  I’m having a flash back. Last week I stayed the same weight pretty much for four days:  (185.4, 185.3, 185.2 and 185.2) then dropped 2 pounds on day # 7.  This may be the start of a pattern for me. Interesting to see how the body works through this.

I’ve been adding up my gold stars and I had enough to treat myself to a one hour massage after work today. It was wonderful! I’m totally relaxed. It was a nice way to spend my “at-a-girl” stars.

Day# 12 On The Plan

Monday June 8th 2009 – My morning weight is up .6 lbs. @ 181

Total of: -9 after 11 days on the program

I was up a bit this morning which is no big deal.  My cloths are feeling looser; especially my snug jeans are feeling better on. I have been steadfast on program, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that by this time tomorrow I will have cross into the 170’s!

I’m happy to be back to a Monday –Friday work schedule. It’s just easier to stick to the program. I love my weekends with my family and friends, but it’s tougher when they are drinking wine and cooking up all kinds of good stuff in the kitchen.

Be Happy & Keep your fingers crossed… 175 here I come!

Day #11 On The Plan

Sunday June 7th, 2009 – My morning weight is down -.5 lbs.  @ 180.4

Total of: -9.6 after 10 days on the program.

Sunday mornings we typically cook a big family breakfast and my husband is in the kitchen doing just that as I type this post.  I had to get out of the kitchen!

Before I sat down just now, I was already thinking of making an egg white scramble with some ground turkey – splitting up my “Lean & Green” meal.  BUT – I can’t forget week # 1 looking back at my journal – eating egg whites for breakfast vs. a TSFL meal slowed my weight loss. I really don’t want to do this to myself again. I decided to type my post and plan my food journal for the next three days. I needed to give myself some time to think about this before I regret my actions.

If I weren’t losing weight, I could easily see where I’d have no problem convincing myself this detour would be ok. But with my success so far,  -9.6 pounds after 10 days on the program… my desired out come means more to me than one breakfast meal.

SUCCESS IS HABIT FORMING!

I will be starting my day with a TSFL breakfast I enjoy, “peach oatmeal”. I have a smile on my face typing this post, because I know I’ve made a great decision this morning that will propel my day, and I feel really good about it.  I’m giving myself a gold star for taking a step back and giving me the time I needed to make the best choice for my day going forward.

Time for breakfast!

Day #10 On The Plan

Saturday June 6th, 2009 – My morning weight is down -1.9lbs.  @ 180.9

Total of: -9.1 after 9 days on the program.

I cut back the coffee both yesterday and again today and that made a huge difference in my hunger levels. Today for the first time my hunger level did not dip into the “hungry” zone.

Today my two challenges were an Annual Board of Directors Meeting for the Kiwanis Family House where lunch was served, and a late afternoon movie, which is code word for popcorn! I knew I had my day’s work cut out. I didn’t want to be hungry and have my resolve fade. I knew planning was the key. Even before I left for my 7 am Saturday morning Weight Watchers meeting I wrote out my plan of action for the day.

For some of you new to me and my blog, I rejoined Weight Watchers Sept 2006 and have had amazing success on their Core plan slimming down nearly 70 pounds in the process. Back in December of last year their Core and Flex Plans were merged and ever since my weight loss has stalled…plus I put on 3 pounds.  That’s why the TSFL plan was so appealing to me. It is a get down to business program and the weight comes off! I was ready to “re-set” myself and get back to losing weight and getting healthy. I continue with my Weight Watchers and my Sat. 7am meeting because the group is awesome. Their support is priceless, and the men and women there have become my second family.

Keeping the caffeine down and adding some veggies to the TSFL scrambled eggs helped propel me into late morning with no hunger problems. By the time lunch was served I let everyone get their food then I helped my self. I had my “green” meal which was lettuce, tomatoes, and a couple of dill pickle spears along with a TSFL Bar. It was perfect.  I did not feel denied at all. Which is amazing considering a few weeks ago I would have done this differently.

The movie went great too. I planned a TSFL Bar and took a baggie of radishes with me to munch on. We saw Angles and Demons with Tom Hanks and really enjoyed it. My husband and I had both read the Dan Brown book when it came out. I read it while in Rome with my girlfriend, Sonja and we traced the books steps as we read the chapters. That was so much fun.

Well I’m giving myself two gold stars for staying focused and on the plan today.
