My First Pair of SIZE 10 Pants! (baby’s got new shoes)

A New Day, A New Me!
I am ecstatic about losing the 100 lbs.
AND…Losing another 1.5 lbs today made me even happier.
This afternoon I headed over to Dress Barn “Misses” and picked up my FIRST pair of size 10 pants! I don’t ever remember wearing anything less than a fourteen, even in high school… So I’m feeling pretty darn skinny right at the moment….and it feels good.

100.2 – Pounds GONE!

Today is a very good day!

I have officially “discarded”: a 100 Pounds from my 5’3” body!

 My current weight is: 154.8

This morning as I stood, looking down at the scale it honestly took me a second or longer to process I was under, 155 Pounds!

  • First there was “disbelief”. I honestly thought I was going to see the scale go up again today.
  • Then “some” excitement.  I had to be sure. So I got off… and got back on!  And it still read 154.8
    • “!!!OMG it must be true!!!”….. processed in my head.
  • And as hard as it may be to believe, “I was quiet”. I just took-in the moment.

I didn’t scream. There may have been a little giggle from some place, and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t “Boone”, my Springer.  Although he appeared happy for me, but then… he’s always pretty happy.

What I did next… I ran for my camera!  Decided to toss on a t-shirt just in case there was a reflection… I do look better naked, but I won’t be joining a nudist colony any time soon.

And took a photo of my SACLE!

Go ahead and call me silly – that’s just me!

This has been one of the most amazing accomplishments of my life. It has taken me nearly all my 55 years on this earth to get my weight dialed in. It’s been a three year journey between Weight Watchers and Take Shape For Life and… so worth it.

Thank you for being a part of my success through my blog site!

My healthy – “optimal weight” (BMI) is 140 pounds.  I’m not done losing just yet, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Today is a very good day!

“85” – Sugar Level This Morning!

For any one who struggles with diabetes let me share my husbands, John’s super news with you.

John has been on diabetes medication for several years and its been impossible to get his sugars under control.  His range has been from 180 to 230 for the longest time.

Currently he takes:

  • Metformin 850mg – 1 tablet, twice a day
  • Nabumetone 750mg – 1/4 tablet, twice a day

Even with these two medication his sugars were still running 120-130 at best.

This morning marked two weeks for John on program.

He has lost 9 1/2 pounds.

AND

His blood sugars have  leveled out and are “NORMAL”.

He took a blood test this morning BEFORE he took his meds

and his sugars tested at: “85”

This program is helping him lose weight and cut out sugars and cut back on carbs.

We are both very thankful.

Give it a Try!  You’re worth it… and so is your health.

John Blonskij Weighs In At… 199.5 pounds

I asked my husband today;  How do you think you’re  going to feel after losing 20 pounds?

May24_2009TheCoast 029See his answer below.

I am happy to report there was no kicking or screaming involved!

John had a good 1st day.

After breakfast, our first meal replacement (eggs) this morning he and I scheduled out all our meals for the day. When we’d eat and what we’d have. At one point in all our running around today he said;  “We’ve got to get home so we can eat again”! That was pretty cool.

After his 3rd meal (Chicken & Wild Rice Soup) he said’  ” this is good”,  meaning he could do this and keep it up.

I have to tell you however, about a month back, John said to me out of the clear blue sky, “So if I did this with you…  I’d have to give up wine, bread and fast food”? My reply was he’d have to rethink his entire way of eating! He got quiet and then said –  “Don’t order me anything thing just yet”. Then about two weeks later we were out with friends and he say’s; “Oh Joyce has ordered my stuff and I’m going on program”! Where that came from… I don’t know. But it was good. I knew he was inching closer to actually starting. Well today was the day.  I asked him this morning if he wanted to get started and he was ready.  What’s interesting is everyone gets there in their own time. And that is what John did… he took his time. I wonder if he thought at first, oh Joyce is on another DIET, here she goes again. But as the days turned into my first three weeks and I’d lost more than I had in 18 months doing Weight Watchers. Well that got his attention. Here I am 3 months into this and 30 pounds slimmer.  I look and feel great. I’m not just saying this to toot my own horn… Last evening at the Kiwanis Family House Italian Dinner I got to see some of my Kiwanis Friends that I haven’t seen since before I started Take Shape For Life.  I totally amazed them all. Ron said I am half the woman I use to be!   Bev Snow from my home club, Kiwanis Club of Roseville, said I looked great and healthy. That’s because, I am eating healthy! I’m very excited John is taking off 20 pounds.  My hope for him is to not only get the weight off – but remove a couple of pre-diabetic meds he’s taking. We’ll just have to wait and see how that goes. DIET Pills & Shots

Another MIND CONTROLLED drug is about to become the latest hit for those looking for a quick fix. This week alone I’ve seen where two drugs are on their way to a pharmacy near you that will block your brain receptors and cause you to lose your mind! Opps… I meant to say lose your appetite!

pills perscription

As they go through The FDA trials, which could be a little as 6 weeks, to prove their safety and efficiency I can’t help but think to my self… “one more block buster drug will come out and make the drug companies a lot of money. In the end the consumer is  paying the costs;  both out of their pocket books and gaining back all the weight plus a fresh 10 pounds.  Talk about the bigge$t loser”!

The consumer might as well get hooked on “speed”.  You’ll drop weight like crazy, change your lifestyle and become an illegal drug user. You’ll never have to worry about gaining the weight back – but you may need intervention… that is, if you don’t end up in jail for illegal possession.

Taking the newest diet pill on the market…

1. Will you lose weight?  Yes.

2. Will you keep it off? For little while.  It won’t be a healthy weight loss and you WILL gain it all back and MORE! Trust me on this… I’ve done this yo-yo diet syndrome my entire life!

85% of those  who have gone on a “DIET” (a dirty four letter word if you ask me) will gain all of the weight they lost and more with in 12 months!  These odds are miserable and stacked against you!

So brace yourselves for the new wave of mind altering weight loss drugs and the TV commercials to follow.

If you want to lose weight quickly and keep it off forever…

  • Eat small portion controlled nutritious meals every 2 1/2 to 3 hrs.
  • Get some form of exercise every day.
  • Avoid everything that contains high frutose corn syrup!
  • Stay clear of  fried foods, unhealthy fats, and fast food joints.
  • Keep the calories in and calories out at a level where you burn more than you consume.

If you think “DIET”  you may be in for trouble down the road!

It’s a life style.

A healthy life style… will get you to a healthy weight and more importantly keep you there.

Rebound Eating & 5 Tips to Feeling Satisfied

Feelings of Deprivation Can Cause Rebound Eating

Once you start down this eating frenzy you’re likely to fall into the trap of feeling guilty and all diets bets are off!

I know what I’m talking about. It’s happened to me many times.  If you’ve ever been on a diet for an extended period of time those feeling of not being able to eat or drink… (FILL IN THE BLANK) can build up and after a while you give in and start eating what ever that BLANK was… and then some. If you have a lot of weight to lose you need to be realistic about your weight loss journey and set small goals. I love hitting a new “9”. It’s like going from 255 to 249, and then 239. A new nine! And that’s just what I’ve done. When you’ve hit a series of these goals give yourself a reward. If that’s a day off program so be it. But the key is, it’s a day, not a week or six months. Be accountable to yourself. Here is what I found when I gave myself a food reward that I craved.  I wanted pizza. (Why is it we Americans love pizza so much)?  So I went to a gourmet pizza parlor here in Folsom on Sutter Street. They make the best. Topping are fresh and generous! My first two bites were heavenly…after that I actually thought to myself… “That was great, I enjoyed it but do I want to keep eating”? I was totally satisfied and done. I stopped eating.  No damage done. No guilt. I was still in control. I filled that craving, avoided the feeling of deprivation, and that felt great! I’m not a pizza snob by any means.  I enjoyed my reward but I also knew then and now… it’s not a lifestyle I do all the time.  It was an at-a-girl reward for my hard work. Now my rewards tend to be more physical. My next reward is kayaking on Lake Natoma or indoor skydiving. I still have time to decide. Who want to try indoor skydiving with me? Rebound eating can be devastating to a long term weight loss program. So mentally keep it fresh and accountable.

5 Tips to feeling satisfied:

  1. Eat slowly.
  2. Chew your food 10 times and put your fork down between bites.
  3. Plate your food to make it visually attractive.
  4. Try new healthy meals. Change it up.
  5. Try new spices to give your meals exotic flavors.
