100.2 – Pounds GONE!

Today is a very good day!

I have officially “discarded”: a 100 Pounds from my 5’3” body!

 My current weight is: 154.8

This morning as I stood, looking down at the scale it honestly took me a second or longer to process I was under, 155 Pounds!

  • First there was “disbelief”. I honestly thought I was going to see the scale go up again today.
  • Then “some” excitement.  I had to be sure. So I got off… and got back on!  And it still read 154.8
    • “!!!OMG it must be true!!!”….. processed in my head.
  • And as hard as it may be to believe, “I was quiet”. I just took-in the moment.

I didn’t scream. There may have been a little giggle from some place, and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t “Boone”, my Springer.  Although he appeared happy for me, but then… he’s always pretty happy.

What I did next… I ran for my camera!  Decided to toss on a t-shirt just in case there was a reflection… I do look better naked, but I won’t be joining a nudist colony any time soon.

And took a photo of my SACLE!

Go ahead and call me silly – that’s just me!

This has been one of the most amazing accomplishments of my life. It has taken me nearly all my 55 years on this earth to get my weight dialed in. It’s been a three year journey between Weight Watchers and Take Shape For Life and… so worth it.

Thank you for being a part of my success through my blog site!

My healthy – “optimal weight” (BMI) is 140 pounds.  I’m not done losing just yet, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Today is a very good day!

“85” – Sugar Level This Morning!

For any one who struggles with diabetes let me share my husbands, John’s super news with you.

John has been on diabetes medication for several years and its been impossible to get his sugars under control.  His range has been from 180 to 230 for the longest time.

Currently he takes:

  • Metformin 850mg – 1 tablet, twice a day
  • Nabumetone 750mg – 1/4 tablet, twice a day

Even with these two medication his sugars were still running 120-130 at best.

This morning marked two weeks for John on program.

He has lost 9 1/2 pounds.

AND

His blood sugars have  leveled out and are “NORMAL”.

He took a blood test this morning BEFORE he took his meds

and his sugars tested at: “85”

This program is helping him lose weight and cut out sugars and cut back on carbs.

We are both very thankful.

Give it a Try!  You’re worth it… and so is your health.

John Blonskij Weighs In At… 199.5 pounds

I asked my husband today;  How do you think you’re  going to feel after losing 20 pounds?

May24_2009TheCoast 029See his answer below.

I am happy to report there was no kicking or screaming involved!

John had a good 1st day.

After breakfast, our first meal replacement (eggs) this morning he and I scheduled out all our meals for the day. When we’d eat and what we’d have. At one point in all our running around today he said;  “We’ve got to get home so we can eat again”! That was pretty cool.

After his 3rd meal (Chicken & Wild Rice Soup) he said’  ” this is good”,  meaning he could do this and keep it up.

I have to tell you however, about a month back, John said to me out of the clear blue sky, “So if I did this with you…  I’d have to give up wine, bread and fast food”? My reply was he’d have to rethink his entire way of eating! He got quiet and then said –  “Don’t order me anything thing just yet”. Then about two weeks later we were out with friends and he say’s; “Oh Joyce has ordered my stuff and I’m going on program”! Where that came from… I don’t know. But it was good. I knew he was inching closer to actually starting. Well today was the day.  I asked him this morning if he wanted to get started and he was ready.  What’s interesting is everyone gets there in their own time. And that is what John did… he took his time. I wonder if he thought at first, oh Joyce is on another DIET, here she goes again. But as the days turned into my first three weeks and I’d lost more than I had in 18 months doing Weight Watchers. Well that got his attention. Here I am 3 months into this and 30 pounds slimmer.  I look and feel great. I’m not just saying this to toot my own horn… Last evening at the Kiwanis Family House Italian Dinner I got to see some of my Kiwanis Friends that I haven’t seen since before I started Take Shape For Life.  I totally amazed them all. Ron said I am half the woman I use to be!   Bev Snow from my home club, Kiwanis Club of Roseville, said I looked great and healthy. That’s because, I am eating healthy! I’m very excited John is taking off 20 pounds.  My hope for him is to not only get the weight off – but remove a couple of pre-diabetic meds he’s taking. We’ll just have to wait and see how that goes. Down 25 Lbs. in 10 Weeks!

I got Fat because I ate the wrong foods 3 times a day.

Now I am losing the Fat…

…I eat all the right foods 6 times a day!

Back on the 28th of May 2009 – I weighed in at 190 pounds after being stuck in a five pound range for 18 months doing Weight Watchers. Talk about getting discouraged… Then I was introduced to a life changing program, Take Shape For Life (TSFL).

At the end of 10 weeks I weighed at 165.0!

I’ve gone for a tight size 16 to a baggy size 12

My friend at Weight Watchers sent me a note that she didn’t know scales got that low? Well mine is going lower! I am still on program and have more weight to drop. If you have said to yourself… “I have to do something” I have found the magic to getting us all Healthy and Losing Weight! This is an amazing program. I eat all day long pretty much. Small portion controlled meal replacements and one home cooked meal or I dine out. Here is what it’s NOT:
  • It’s not a liquid diet. Yuck!
  • There are no pills or shots!
  • You will not be counting points!
  • You won’t starve or be hungry… ever!
Here is what you WILL do:
  • EAT! 6 to 7 times a day… about every three hours – “How cool is this”?
  • You CAN Lose Weight. Some will lose more and a few of you will cheat and lose less…sorry,  just a fact of life.

This is changing my life and it can change yours too.

Have you said you needed to do something? Well this is it. Give it a try for 5 weeks like I did, and you’ll swear by this program. Want to lose weight and get healthy? I am here to help. Day # 4 On The Plan

Sunday, May 31, 2009 — Morning weight 185.3 for a new 3 day total of 4.7 lbs.

My challenge today was a River Cats (baseball) game. My typical game menu is a hot dog and lite beer with a bag of kettle corn.  I’ve also been known to have a Caesar salad, but almost always without fail – I have to have a bag of kettle corn, my weakness. I knew the smells would be everywhere, and they were and I had to have a plan before I even left home if I was going to enjoy the game and not give in to old habits.

I can’t stop doing the things I love just because I’m on afraid of falling of the weight loss wagon.

I had spoken to my TSFL Coach early in the day and he gave me a tip I used for the ball park and that was to make a shake and put it in the freezer for an hour.  I took my favorite, the strawberry shake and turned it into slush. It hit the spot.  In the parking lot after the game my husband and I split a couple of hard boiled dilled eggs (just the whites) and a Lemon Meringue Crunch Bar.

I am happy to report 2 victories: Mine & The River Cats. We both won today!

My lesson learned this afternoon is I can do this and live my life at the same time.  It does take planning and a plan to be successful. When it comes right down to it, having a plan is a must for losing weight and investing. It all makes perfect sense.

PS: In total fairness to the gentleman selling Kettle Corn at the game, his nickname is “The Isle Dancer” because for an older person he can shake rattle and roll pretty darn good.  I’m sorry your sales are going down starting today!

Day # 3 On The Plan

My morning weight is down another 2 lbs. at 185.4 For a 2 day total of -4.6

Today (Saturday) I’ve been busy and ran errands for about four hours this afternoon. I planned to have a Lemon Meringue Crunch Bar at 1pm but didn’t get to it until 2:30pm.  By the time I tore it open, I was very hungry and out of steam. I realized how important it is to eat on a tighter schedule of about every 2 ½ to 3 hours.

My TSFL Coach told me when I started the first three days are the hardest. It’s been fairly easy so far… I’m relieved and thankful. He also shared with me that after today (Day 3) my body may go into the “fat burning” stage.  Normally this takes two to five days to achieve. During my first few days on the program I could feel tired, hungry or irritable and /or experience headaches or lightheadedness as my body adjusts.  I did have a headache on my first day.  I figured out it was the reduced intake of daily caffeine. I was used to drinking 6 cups before noon, now its down to 2 cups.

Yesterday and today I’ve monitored my level of hunger and just today I dip into the “hungry zone”.  I waited to long between meals. Also today I felt my energy was taped out by late afternoon and I got so tired I did something I seldom do…I took a nap. It was great!  I feel good now.  Refreshed, not hungry and looking forward to seeing how todays progress will register on the scale in the morning.

He also said that within about 72 hours, as I start to “burn fat”  I’ll feel energized and less hungry – and I’ll get the thrill of seeing results. I say…Bring it on!

Day # 2 On The Plan

My morning weight is 187.4

Down -2.6 within the first 24 hours – WOW!

Day 2 was a bit harder from the stand point I was in and out and very busy and it seemed that every time I looked at my watch, it was time to eat again! Oh poor me. I need to eat 5 of the TSFL meals a day and by 4pm I’d only had 3 plus my 3 eggs white veggie omelet. I knew I was going to get pressed for time in the day to get it all in. Can you imagine being on a weight loss program and worried you still had more meals to fit into your day? Oh the problems of dieters! Not.

Again I must say their bars are amazingly good and easy.  Today I had a vanilla shake and added diet root beer to make a float. It was just heavenly. I don’t feel deprived and I certainly don’t feel like I’m on a diet.  My worry now is how can I lose weight eating all day long?

This evening I wanted to experiment with the microwave again but this time I kept vigil and used Ziploc Zip’n Steam bags to make Tilapia with broccoli. It turned out wonderful. In 8 ½ minutes dinner was ready. Even my husband loved it! I’d seen this on The Biggest Loser and have wanted to give it a try, now I’m hooked.

I am going to bed tonight feeling satisfied and not hungry.
